Howlin' is the Antwerp knitwear brand that makes your grandfather's sweater feel cool again. Launched in 2009 by brothers Jan and Patrick Olyslager, it grew out of Morrison, the knitwear company their parents founded back in 1981, so this is a family that's been living and breathing wool for over forty years. The name itself is Scottish slang for "smelly," which tells you right away this is knitwear that refuses to take itself too seriously.
That irreverence is the whole charm. Howlin' takes traditional Scottish knitwear and gives it room for fantasy in shape and pattern, landing on timeless, playful pieces full of color and texture. The cleverly named styles come straight from the soundtrack to the brothers' lives, built for long nights spinning records and watching films, equal parts house music and heritage.
The craft is the real thing. Every piece is made from locally sourced premium yarns and individually manufactured and hand finished by skilled artisans in Scotland, Ireland, or Belgium, regions with centuries of knitwear history behind them. For the Spring/Summer the brand pivots to creating summer staples made in Belgium which shows their wide range of ability from their staple knitwear in the winter.
