Altea has been a Milan name since 1892, when it opened as a sophisticated little necktie shop near Via Montenapoleone. More than a century later, that history is exactly the point. The brand is best known for its colorful brushed knitwear, which has become its signature, rounded out by shirting, soft tailoring, and accessories that come together into easy, head-to-toe looks. Most of it is made in Umbria and Marche, the heartlands of Italian knitwear, with specialist suppliers and small ateliers who keep experimenting with yarns, fabrics, and color, working in natural fibers like cashmere, alpaca, silk, and Egyptian cotton.
