Venice Meets Brooklyn

The relationship between Cueva and Barena is built on a shared appreciation for craft, thoughtful details, and clothing that feels natural to wear. We first became a Barena stockist in 2022, drawn to the brand’s relaxed approach to tailoring and its ability to feel refined without being rigid. From the beginning, the partnership felt intuitive and personal.

That relationship took a new step in 2024 when we collaborated on our first exclusive capsule to celebrate the opening of Cueva Greenpoint. It marked the start of an ongoing creative exchange between Venice and New York, two cities shaped by history, character, and a deep sense of place. What began as a celebration of a new store quickly turned into a broader collaboration rooted in shared perspective and mutual respect.

In Spring 2025, the story expanded with a three-way collaboration alongside our neighbors at Chez Ma Tante. The idea was born just across the street from our Greenpoint store, over dinner with the Barena team. As the night went on, conversations shifted toward uniforms and what they represent. How they function, how they age, and how they can quietly reflect the spirit of a place. When aprons came up, everything fell into place. From there, we designed three distinct aprons, each paired with a full three-piece look made up of an overshirt, shirt, and trousers. The pieces were crafted in summer-ready fabrics like linen, linen-viscose blends, and soft cotton canvas, chosen for their comfort, texture, and ease.

Our most recent Fall/Winter collaboration continued that dialogue through fabric and versatility. We introduced garments made from tropical wool, a lighter fabric that works naturally in cooler months when layered correctly. The capsule also included two wool vests and a brushed cotton overshirt, offering pieces that could move easily between seasons and settings. The focus was on wearability and balance, staying true to Barena’s thoughtful approach to modern tailoring.

Across all three collaborations, the goal has remained the same. To bring together Venice and New York in a way that feels honest and lived in. Each capsule is made in Italy using Italian fabrics and developed closely with Barena’s creative director, Massimo Pigozzo. More than just product, these collaborations reflect the relationships that define Cueva, shaped by community, shared vision, and the cities that continue to inspire us.
