Collection: Cueva x Barena for Chez Ma Tante

Venice Meets Brooklyn

It started across the street from our Greenpoint store—at Chez Ma Tante, over dinner with the Barena team. Between good food and shared perspective, the idea of a collaboration took shape—not just around product, but around purpose.

As the night went on, we found ourselves talking about uniforms—what they say, how they function, and how they might reflect a place like Chez. When aprons entered the conversation, everything clicked. From there, the vision became clear.

Together, we designed three distinct aprons—each with an accompanying full three-piece look made up of an overshirt, a shirt, and trousers. The pieces are cut in summer-ready fabrics like linen, linen-viscose blends, and soft cotton canvas—materials that feel lived-in yet elevated.

The color palette and textures were chosen to reflect both day-to-night wearability and the spirit of New York—eclectic and rooted in character. Inspired by Barena’s effortless take on the modern suit, we kept the overshirts and trousers in matching fabrics—bringing cohesion to each look.

Barena, based in Venice, Italy, is known for its refined yet relaxed tailoring—a sensibility that has made them a long-standing part of the Cueva brand mix.

Our 12-piece capsule collection was made in Italy using Italian fabrics, developed in close partnership with Barena’s creative director, Massimo Pigozzo.

This collaboration is more than a nod to our favorite restaurant neighbor—it’s a reflection of the relationships that shape us, both local and international. A celebration of friendship, shared vision, and the community we’re proud to be a part of.
