Reverberate is the label of Kensuke Hoshi, founded in 2013. He started small, building independent collections on his own terms and selling to a handful of stores in Japan. After nearly a decade of steady, quiet work, Hoshi moved the brand’s base to Amsterdam and began taking Reverberate to an international audience. What hasn’t changed is his focus on the craft. Hoshi doesn’t start with sketches. He goes straight to the pattern, drafting and redrafting until the garment finds its shape, and he still makes every pattern himself.
Production happens in Japan, in sewing factories Hoshi visits and chooses in person, often based on the specific seamsters working there. He deals with them directly rather than through middlemen, and the cost of that level of sewing is a big part of what you’re paying for. It shows in the clean seams, precise finishing and the way the pieces sit on the body.
